Whenever new technology is brought to the market it’s typically tested in the luxury market before it’s offered down in the mainstream market. Fair or not, the fact that new tech adds to the price of a vehicle means it’s going to be added to those vehicles that are sold at higher prices to customers that don’t mind paying a little more to have the system desired.
