02.25.16 - 2017 Chevrolet Bolt

We talk about the EV’s becoming the future of the automotive world and we even see where some of the new models have reasonable driving range, but for 2015 the total sales of EV cars was less than one percent of the market. There are now 25 plug in models that you can choose from but most consumers are not ready to make the change from gasoline to electric propulsion for one simple reason; driving range. Most of these electric cars off driving ranges that wouldn’t even fill a full day of commuting, which then means we need to have either a backup gasoline engine for further driving or we need to have a way to charge the batteries quickly.

The Wrong Decade but the Right Cars

Toyota Celica Supra

The 1980s was a very unique decade in the automotive world.  While the time was mired by cars that felt underpowered and less capable than ever before because of the massive emissions regulations put on the industry there was also a great deal of awesome vehicles that become the bedrock for the vehicles we see today.  The Volkswagen GTI was begun in the 80s as was the BMW 3-Series.  This decade also featured such high end exotics as the Lamborghini Countach and the Ferrari Testarossa both of which adorned the walls of many a teenage boy during this decade.  With the good in mind from the decade that wasn’t for the auto industry here are some of the coolest cars of the 1980s.

A Car that Just Might Get Better with Age

BMW M235i

When you think of cars that appreciate in value they typically are cars that started out as ultra-expensive or they were so rare to see and find that that willing to buy one paid much more than the sticker price that was presented at the time the car was built.  The BMW 1M Coupe was one such car.  With only 740 units sold in North America because this car came with a very high price tag but came in such fanfare that it had to go up in price after only three years as those who missed out the first time started buying them for more the second time around.
