There may be some downtime at the GM plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky over the next few weeks, but it’s only to make things better. If you’re looking forward to the 2026 Chevy Corvette, don’t worry, it’s still on its way.
It’s A Pause Not a Stop
Unlike other times when Chevy halted production on the Corvette, the four pauses in production at the Bowling Green plant are planned. They will stop production during the week of February 24, again during the last two weeks of March, and then again during the week of May 19.
According to a spokesperson from Chevy, they have a few reasons for the pauses, but it is mostly for project improvements and updates to their manufacturing processes. They’ve also said that there is a large number of employees at the plant retiring, with no plans to replace them, so other employees will need added training to complete extra tasks.
Is there a Corvette Zora in the Works?
There are some rumors that a Corvette Zora is coming. Imagine what you would get if you took that twin-turbo engine from the gas-powered Corvette and added the electric motor from the E-Ray and put them together. You would get what is rumored to be the upcoming Zora with something in the realm of 1,200 horsepower.
There’s a little more than just rumors to back this up. Prototypes have been seen at Germany’s Nürburgring racetrack as they undergo testing.
While We Wait, Let’s Look at the Corvette We Have
You don’t have to wait for the latest generation Corvette to get a supercar, you can shop at your Chevy dealers used cars and still get a “Vette that will give you a thrill. Take the 2024 Stingray for example, it has a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that delivers 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Want more? Check out the Z06 with its 5.5-liter V-8 that churns out 670 horsepower.
The 2024 Corvette comes with standard features that impress. You’ll get Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential, and keyless entry with push-button start. Inside, there are heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 14-speaker Bose stereo, because what is a road trip in a sports car without great music.
What We Know About the Upcoming 2026 Corvette
There are still many details to be determined about the 2026 Corvette. What we do know is that there will still be four high-performance models to choose from, including the C8 Stingray, C8 Z06, the C8 E-Ray, and the C8 ZR1. If you’re on the hunt for the fastest Corvette, then you’ll want to check out the ZR1. Its top speed is over 230 mph.
While there are still some questions surrounding the pauses in production of the 2025 Corvette, it’s still in production. You can wait for the new one or head to a Chevy dealer and shop for used cars while still getting the Corvette experience.
