The Acura TLX continues to provide elegance, excitement, and impressive features to make it one of the most desirable premium sedans.
The 2024 model year marks the halfway point for the second-generation TLX, which means some upgrades to deliver more desirable features. This elegant sedan remains recognizable and filled with great features while adding a few more items to look better. The 2024 models receive a new frameless grille, additional color options, and a more streamlined model lineup. Could this be the luxury sedan you want to drive? Let’s see what’s offered and find out.
Acura features packed in the trims
Acura adds some new elements to this sporty luxury sedan but removes some of the choices. Acura enthusiasts requested the brand simplify, which made perfect sense with the long list of options. There were options for every trim, the choice of FWD or AWD, and performance packages, which made shopping much longer than it should be. For the 2024 model, the Technology package is standard and set up with FWD, while the A-Spec and Type S versions only come with an AWD layout.
The base and A-Spec models feature a new grill with a wide diamond mesh pattern, while the Type S receives a trim-specific trim with a tighter pattern. Both are finished in gloss black. This new Type S also features a new radar system behind the logo for all models, while the Type S has a full surround camera.
The base Acura TLX and A-Spec models ride on 19-inch split five-spoke wheels finished in dark gray, while the Type S is equipped with 20-inch gloss black wheels. The Type S can be had with copper-finished 20-inch wheels wearing high-performance summer tires if desired.
The A-Spec model is more aggressive
The rear area of the TLX A-Spec is more aggressive than before. You’ll notice a new diffuser and round exhaust ports, giving this view a sportier appearance. The rear of the Type S remains unchanged from 2023; it’s already packed with sporty performance qualities.
There are two new paint colors for the TLX lineup: Urban Gray Pearl which is available on the A-Spec and Type-S models, and Liquid Carbon Metallic, which is available for the TLX with the Technology package.
Did Acura change the powertrain?
Most of the time, when an automaker brings a mid-cycle refresh to the market, the powertrain lineup goes unchanged. This is the case for the 2024 Acura TLX. The Technology and A-Spec models use the same 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 272 horsepower and 280 lb-t of torque.
The Type S model continues to deliver added power and performance from the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Both engines use a 10-speed automatic transmission to provide impressive shifting and sporty driving.
Note: The A-Spec model is quieter than the base model thanks to thicker carpets, more noise-cushioning padding, and acoustic glass in the front doors.
The Type S offers attractive cabin colors
When you want to drive a sporty and showy Acura TLX, the Type S model is perfect. This sporty luxury car has three showy cabin colors for you to choose from. You can have this area finished in either red or black leather, which is also offered in the lower trims, or choose Pearly Orchid for your interior color, which is exclusively available in the Type S.
The dashboard houses a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. This means you’ve got a larger screen in the 2024 model than was offered in the 2023 version. The newest version of the TLX infotainment system is faster and more responsive than before, with standard phone connectivity and built-in Amazon Alexa. If you have passengers in the rear seats, they now have access to charging ports for their devices. You’ll also see a standard wireless charging pad in every model of the 2024 TLX.
Choose higher trims for more driving pleasure
The higher trims of the 2024 Acura TLX bring qualities and features you’ll want to enjoy. The climate control system is GPS-linked in higher trims, ensuring a consistent cabin temperature regardless of the outside temperature. The Type S model is also where you find the head-up display and Brembo brakes to give you the gauges and stopping power desired.
Which version of the Acura TLX is the right model for you? This impressive luxury sports sedan is made to be fun, elegant, exciting, and comfortable on any road. With a simplified lineup for 2024, shopping for the TLX is easier than ever before.
