Although Chevrolet has introduced some redesigned models in recent years, there are several other models waiting in the wings that should be redesigned soon.
This includes some popular Chevrolet models like the Traverse, Spark, and Trax. Many enthusiasts would like to see a redesign of the Chevrolet Camaro before it’s discontinued, but most industry insiders believe that to be unlikely.
Chevrolet Traverse
A confirmed upcoming redesign is the Chevrolet Traverse, which is expected to get a significant refresh for the 2023 model year. The Traverse is already one of the biggest SUVs in the super-competitive midsize SUV class. It offers one of the largest cargo capacities in the segment and a powerful V6 engine. For the 2023 model year, the Traverse should be getting more modern tech, more standard driver aids, and an exterior refresh. The Traverse is in its second generation as of 2018, so it will likely be due for a full redesign in the next few years or so.
Chevrolet Trax
One of the Chevrolet models badly in need of a new redesign is the Trax. This sub-compact crossover SUV is still in its first generation that came out in the 2015 model year. A recent refresh happened for the 2022 model, which included a new, more powerful 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that now makes 155 horsepower versus the previous 135. However, the Trax could use an interior redo for more space, and it could use a more powerful engine option for those who like a bit more zip in their city SUVs.
Chevrolet Bolt
Like the Trax, the Chevrolet Bolt hasn’t moved onto a second-generation yet since debuting in the 2017 model year. For the 2022 model year, the Bolt features refreshed styling, an updated infotainment interface, available adaptive cruise control, new wireless connectivity for Apple and Android, and updated front seats. Also like the Trax, the Bolt could use a full exterior refresh to add more modern and edgy aesthetics to complement its city car EV status. The Bolt suffers somewhat from a small cargo area and could use a refresh in that area as well. Despite the overdue redesign, the Bolt remains one of the most affordable and popular EV cars on the road.
Chevrolet Spark
The Chevrolet Spark is another one of the Chevrolet models stuck in an old second generation that started in 2015. It’s also likely to see a redesign in the near future as nothing significant was updated for 2022. The Spark fits a niche that doesn’t have very many options–the niche of small, inexpensive commuter cars. As such, the Spark offers a lot of value for the money with excellent fuel economy, an affordable starting price, and a sizable list of standard features.
Some Other Redesign Possibilities
There are a few other Chevrolet models waiting in the wings for a redesign, including the Colorado pickup and the Malibu sedan. As the Silverado has recently been redesigned, it seems likely that a Colorado redesign isn’t too far off either. The Malibu is the only family sedan wearing the Chevrolet badge left. It’s hard to say whether it will be redesigned or replaced.
