If you’re looking at a new GMC Yukon, it’s important to be aware that the Denali Black Package is no longer available. This is the second model year of the fully redesigned and all-new fifth generation of the GMC Yukon.
The 2022 model comes with only a few changes from the 2021 redesign year. Now, with the news of the Denali Black Package cancellation, buyers who want it will have to look for a used GMC Yukon with the package or enlist a customization shop.
Unavailable For 2022
The Denali Black Package was introduced in the latter part of 2021 and tagged with the RPO code RG. This package was offered as an option at the LPO level, which means it’s a dealer-installed package rather than a factory-installed package. However, the Denali Black Package is no longer available for customers to order for the remainder of the 2022 model year.
If you still want the Denali Black Package, you have a few different options. You can look for a used GMC Yukon that sports the package, or you can search for dealers and custom shops that offer a replica of this package. As the package is largely made up of aesthetic customizations, it’s not that difficult to reproduce for custom shops.
Denali Black Package Features
The Denali Black Package was supposed to replace the Denali Performance Black Package, which was never actually put in production. The Denali Black Package is mostly an aesthetic package with blackout features to give the SUV an eye-catching look. Those features include the following:-Illuminated blackout GMC logo-Black nameplates-Sport pedal cover kit-22-inch Carbon Flash wheels-Illuminated mirror and front/rear door sill plates.
Most of these options are available to buy as standalone options and can be combined at will. Many dealers also offer custom blackout options that they will install. You can choose the level of blackout for your new or used GMC Yukon by covering the existing chrome trim.
2022 GMC Yukon
Although the GMC Yukon was recently redesigned, you can find plenty of used GMC Yukon models with excellent modern features and strong reliability. The redesign simply changed the exterior and made more features available. It’s now offered with three engine options, including two different V8 engines and a turbodiesel engine. All engine options are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. The GMT T1 platform is the base for the new GMC Yukon.
If you’re looking at a used GMC Yukon, you’ll likely be looking at the fourth generation, which ran from the 2015 through 2020 model years. This Yukon offered a choice of two V8 engines and a six-speed automatic transmission on most trims. The Denali version featured an eight-speed automatic transmission. This Yukon was built on the GMT K2 platform.
