The new Kia Soul will ride on the current Hyundai Kona platform. This is exciting news because the Kona platform is able to support AWD, which means we might have this feature offered in the new Soul. The base version of the Soul will likely have the 147 horsepower 2.0-liter engine under the hood and the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that we’ve seen in the Soul of the past will also likely make an appearance in the next version. The Kona seven-speed DCT automatic transmission will also likely pop up and be part of the Soul we want to drive as well.
