The Ford Ranger Raptor for the European market is ready to show off later this month and it will be one we want in the North American market.
One of the biggest differences we know regarding the drive in Europe versus our home market is the position of the driver. While the models that make their way to Europe will have the driver sitting on the right side of the vehicle, there’s been a model spotted in Ontario that gets us excited.
The Left-Hand Ranger Raptor
Not far from Detroit, only across the river, in fact, a Ford Ranger Raptor was spotted on the roads in Ontario with the driver on the left side of the truck. this version of the Ranger Raptor gives us an idea of what just might be the future model that we’ll love to drive in North America, but the engine might not be the one that we see when it arrives. Spy photos of this truck were taken and shared and not this truck is the one that we’re ready to discuss.
Why Will the Engine Change?
The engine that was seen in this model of the truck is a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine that makes 210 horsepower and 368 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is attached to a ten-speed automatic transmission. We know this because the engine is the one used in the Ranger Raptor that prowls the roads in Thailand and Australia. Because diesel has been mired in the US and in Europe, it’s more likely the version of the Ranger Raptor we eventually see will be powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine for the drive we want to enjoy.
Getting Deeper in the Raptor
Because this new left-hand-drive truck was spotted in an area that Ford enjoys calling a neighborhood that’s nearly home, photos were taken under the vehicle to give us a better look at what this truck has to offer. These pictures showed off the Watt’s Link rear suspension, Fox Racing shocks, and underbody skid plates. If these sound like familiar features, they are similar to what we already enjoy and admire in the Ford F-150 Raptor that we see on the market. Hopefully, these are items that will make it to the production model of the Ranger Raptor for the North American market.
When Will We See the Ford Ranger Raptor
The newest base version of the Ranger Raptor hasn’t arrived on the market for us to drive and purchase, but we already know we want to have the added power and performance that the Raptor name has to offer. It’s not yet known when the North American version of the Ranger Raptor will be offered for us to admire, but the likely events are at the LA Auto Show in November or the Detroit Auto Show that will kick off the 2019 calendar year.
