After making the lap at Nurburgring there was one more place the new “fastest car around the ‘Ring” needed to be and that’s at the Geneva Motor Show. The new Lamborghini Huracan Performante is now the top car and it may be a few years before another car can take its place. Not only is it the fastest car to make this lap, it’s the one that offers a naturally aspirated V10 engine and it actually beat out a car that offered a hybrid powertrain under the skin of the car. This new impressive model is the model that Lamborghini is proud to show off, as you can see in this short video from AutoGuide.
As the newest and fastest model around the famed track in Germany the Huracan Performante came to the show with the collected Lamborghini chests puffed out as proud parents of this impressive vehicle. The time this car made at Nurburgring was 6:52.01 which was nearly five seconds faster than the previous record that was held by the Porsche 918 Spyder. It’s amazing that a naturally aspirated car could be faster than a Porsche that carried a hybrid powertrain under the skin to become the car that set a new record.
In order to build this car and make it right for this track run and the debut in Geneva the Huracan Performante shed 88 pounds compared to the other model. This was accomplished with the use of Forged Composite in the structural components including the front and rear spoilers, the engine cover, rear bumper and the aerodynamic diffuser. The aerodynamics are aided the most with the Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva which is a patented system that was developed by this company and created to help make this car much faster on the track while avoiding the need of every putting turbocharging in the engine.
When you look at the Huracan Performante the ALA system is one you won’t notice right away. That’s because the system is completely integrated into the vehicle and its design. The front spoiler integrates the electric motor of the front system and the carbon forged frame has active flaps on the top exterior surface of the car to give you the downforce and airflow that you need. When the system is off all the vents and flaps are closed, but when it’s open the front flaps are opened by an electric motor in order to give you the front spoiler and direct air flow you want to enjoy.
Other than the $274,390 price tag of this car the Huracan Performante offers you 640 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque. This car shows up with a weight of 3,047 pounds and a time to reach sixty mph of less than 2.9 seconds. This is one of the most exciting cars that’s been made and is now the fastest to make the lap around Nurburgring. If you want a great car to drive and show off at the track, check out this new record holder and the impressive ALA system that makes it much faster than it would be without this system of engineered airflow.
