Imagine you spent the last week of September at the Paris Motor Show. If this was the case you would have been able to witness a fantastic offering of vehicles from a wide variety of models that were on display form all over the world. Manufacturers bring the best and most impressive models to these shows to let us see what they have to offer the market coming up or so that we can see what they’re working on. Because they typically want the journalists that attend the shows to give rave reviews they dress these vehicles up and polish them to a shine.
Understanding this is the case, it’s hard to believe any automaker would come to an auto show with a model that’s completely covered in camouflage. While there’s really no reason to worry that you can’t make out the details of the car, it seems an odd way to bring something to an auto show that you want to be admired and to be shown off in perfect dress, but this car took some attention just because it was under wraps, which might have been a clever ploy.
The car in discussion is the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake, which is just a fancy way of saying this is a Jaguar wagon. This car is one that looks good, even though it’s wrapped up, and it will certainly make for an attractive and amazing wagon that could be perfect for many to enjoy, but the first question on the mind of those in the US market was whether or not this car would be brought to our shores? Thankfully this was confirmed by Joe Eberhart who is president and CEO of JLR North America. This new Jaguar wagon is to be a global vehicle and reach all their markets.
The XF Sportbrake will make use of the same aluminum architecture that’s present on the XF and have a menu of engines that come from the Ingenium family. This means we’ll have a 2.0-liter menu from the gasoline and diesel variants to give us a great list of engines to enjoy. This is the same family of engines that are now being used in the new F-Pace crossover to give you a reference, to ensure you know that you have a great menu of awesome engines to make use of and select form for your driving needs.
The new XF Sportbrake will come to us in these versions but will also continue to be developed and there will eventually be an R version of this car to give you a vehicle that can be your next favorite wagon to drive. The Sportbrake will be the luxury car you want to drive when you need more space for cargo in the back of the car, but want to have the Jaguar sophistication and smooth driving in front of the car. Hopefully the next time we discuss this car Jaguar will have taken the camouflage off and let us see exactly what this car is.
