Chevrolet has been building several small cars for a long time and their lineup includes three for you to choose from, the Spark, Sonic and Cruze. The Sonic is the middle of the pack of these three and gives you the small size you want to drive with a bit more elbow room than the Spark. The Sonic comes in either hatchback or sedan forms to give you the right drive for you. Not only is this a car that comes to you in a small size and with a small price, but it does come with a large amount of great tech features for your driving pleasure.
The Sonic is the car to choose when you want a small and fuel efficient model that can fit some great cargo and a few people when you need to. The Sonic has a fresh design and adds safety features to the mix to give you an advanced feeling on the road. For 2017 the Sonic has a new front look and even the base model gives you a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some premium features that have been added to the menu include a heated steering wheel, a power adjustable driver’s seat and rear parking assistance.
There’s no way you can take a ride in the Sonic and not have a lot of fun behind the wheel. This is a car that is able to give you a smooth ride that feels great while putting the power to the wheels as soon as you step on the accelerator. The Sonic is a car that will weave through the twists and turns on the road with the confidence you want to enjoy. You know this is a car that doesn’t take it too seriously and neither should you.
The Sonic does have two engine possibilities under the hood to give you the power you want to enjoy. The base engine is a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder model that brings in 138 horsepower and 125 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine can be mated with either a five-speed manual to give you the feel of rowing your own gears as you enjoy the 25 city/33 hwy mpg or the six-speed automatic that makes 24 city/34 hwy mpg of fuel mileage for you to enjoy. This may not sound like a lot of power, but it’s more than enough to give you an active drive from the Sonic.
The upgraded engine is a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder model that offers the same 138 horsepower but increase the torque to 148 lb.-ft. With this engine you have a bit more power at the lower speeds before the max horsepower comes in and you can have better fuel mileage with this engine as the manual gives you 28 city/38 hwy mpg and the automatic will return a full 27 city/36 hwy mpg for you to have the ride you desire and the efficiency you need from your small car.
The Sonic is offered in the LS, LT and Premier trims for the sedan and the LT and Premier for the hatchback. The LS does come with some great items already included for you to enjoy the ride. This model offers you the infotainment system that was previously mentioned, a rearview camera, the Wi-Fi hotspot through the OnStar system and remote keyless entry. The LT adds the turbocharged engine upgrades the seating and moves you to a six-speaker audio system to have a few more great features to enjoy on this small but fun to drive car.
The optional features of the Sonic gives you leatherette upholstery, heated and power adjustable front seats, 17-inch wheels, a sport suspension, fog lights, sportier appearances on the RS package models, a power sunroof, a lowering suspension kit, a Driver Confidence Package that adds forward collision alert, lane departure warnings, rear parking assistance and cruise control.
