The idea of taking the family on a fun RV trip around the country appeals to many of us. Having a place to sleep at night that has air conditioning and can be parked at a variety of campgrounds around the country is the way to see the country from the road as you ride high above and see what this beautiful country has to offer. While the romance of being able to sit high and ride with a huge steering wheel and vehicle at your control sounds great, thousands of miles of right lane, slower speed driving doesn’t sound like a lot of fun at all.
Most of the time RVs don’t have the power needed to be able to pass other vehicles on the mountain roads and need to stay to the right, much like a semi-truck. The folks at Ringbrothers thought that was ridiculous and went about working to improve upon that idea with a vehicle that you wouldn’t think could do what this one does. They came up with the “Happy Camper” which is the perfect vehicle to take a road trip in with the whole family and enjoy the fact that this vehicle looks one way on the outside and totally different on the inside.
While the “Happy Camper” started out life as a 1972 Winnebago Brave RV, and the folks at Ringbrothers have chosen to keep the exterior as authentic as possible, they have made some impressive changes to the interior. All the seats are now covered in leather and the vehicle sports a bar at the rear of the living space. On the walls the hung a boat engine and a flat screen TV along with some neon lights. All this gives the vehicle a relaxing feeling that you can enjoy riding along with your family.
The floors in the living space are made from hardwood and the front of the vehicle has been completely redone to blend the retro with the modern to give you a feel you can easily appreciate. The metal in the cab area is covered in a mint green paint that gives this vehicle an older feeling that you can admire. There is even a glass engine cover to let you see the engine at work, which is where this vehicle becomes extra special and is one of the most impressive changes that you’ll see on this RV.
You see, the way you can enjoy some left lane driving in this RV and even show off a bit is with the power of the motor under the glass panel. This RV uses a Wegner Motorsports LS 408 supercharged V8 that puts out a strong 900 horsepower. The transmission is a GM 4L80 automatic that pushed the torque to the rear end which is from a 2005 F-550 truck. This may look like an RV that’s been on the road for too many years, but Ringbrothers has it for SEMA and it’s a gorgeous vehicle that could be put to work to let you drive with more power and confidence.
