The North American International Auto Show, also known as the Detroit Auto Show brings us a great menu of new cars for us to admire and desire. This show is the beginning each year of a full year of discussions when it comes to the concept models as much as for those that are deemed ready for production for the next model year. What we say this year in Detroit gave us a look at some cars that are ready to be enjoyed and some exceptional new looks that should show up with the technology we want to see and enjoy.
2016 BMW M2 – This is the car that takes the place where the 1-Series M Coupe once sat. This small and athletic beauty offers a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine making 365 horsepower and having the ability to reach sixty mph in only 4.2 seconds.
2016 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S – Adding the turbocharging to the previously naturally aspirated engine increases the horsepower of this sporty pair to 540 and 580 respectively. This gives us a time to sixty mph of 2.8 seconds in the S model which also enjoys a new steering wheel and other cool updates.
2016 Volvo S 90 – The 90 number seems to be the new favorite number for Volvo as we see the largest SUV from them being the XC90 and now we get the S90 which is a gorgeous sedan that will sit squarely atop the Volvo lineup to be and impressive offering.
2017 Mercedes- Benz E-Class – Typically the E-Class has been a design individual compared to the C-Class and S-Class which have mirrored each other. This changes for 2017 and the E-Class enters the lineup with similar styling and a great menu of engines to power the car and offer the midsized sedan you want.
2018 Lexus LC 500 – This will be a massively sporty package that is the successor to the SC 300 and 400 of the early 1990s in spirit only. What this car will be is the next movement of the LF-LC concept to bring us a car that will pack a serious punch.
2017 Lincoln Continental – We all remember the Continentals of old that were massive land yachts, this will be a large and powerful sedan that shows up at 400 horsepower with all the luxury features you would expect from this exceptional brand.
2017 Genesis G90 – With Genesis going to its own brand name as the luxury brand from Hyundai this new G90 will be the replacement for the Equus and be the first offering from the new brand. There couldn’t be a better way to start out than with a powerful and luxurious large sedan as the new G90.
2017 Infiniti Q60 Sports Coupe – Added muscle and a great engine make this a new coupe that will be a lot of fun to drive. There actually are two engines to choose from, both of which use the Direct Adaptive steering system to be a lot of fun to drive.
Buick Avista Concept – Long and powerful with a great RWD system this car is one that will be sporty and fun for us to all drive and love. As a throwback of power to the Grand National GNX this car is fully redesigned to be modern and gorgeous.
2017 Chevrolet Bolt – The answer to the question of whether or not Chevrolet can offer an affordable EV model that has a great range on a single charge is here. This will be the EV that many of us choose and will certainly push other automakers to have this kind of range for their EV models.
2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG S65 Cabriolet – This is the most powerful car unveiled at the show and it’s also the most expensive. With 623 horsepower and 738 lb.-ft. of torque and a price of over $200,000 this car is an awesome drive if you shop in this price range.
2016 VLF Force 1 – Using the Viper as a base for this car this beauty is one that came from the collaborative efforts of three giants in the automotive world. The power of the V10 gives this car 745 horsepower and uses an active suspension for an awesome drive.
2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback – While this has already been a car that is sold in Europe the Cruze Hatchback will be brought to the US for the 2017 model year. With an expanded cargo area and more versatility this new version of the Cruze will be a great addition to the lineup.
Acura Precision Concept – As a large and highly attractive couple this might be a great way for Acura to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Of course, since it’s only a concept it’s hard to say what will actually come of this concept but hopefully it will be a great celebration car.
2017 Audi Allroad – This little wagon that is raised up will continue the fun and success of the Allroad that began back in 2004. With a raised platform the Allroad will come in with a stance that can go through snow and be great as an off road vehicle.
Lexus LF-FC Concept – While this concept debuted in Tokyo on October this is the first time we got to see it here in the US. This will be a beautiful flagship sedan if it makes its way to the lineup, and certainly would be an exciting addition to what Lexus offers.
2017 Ford GT – A year after its debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show the Ford GT shows up again with more information for us to know about and enjoy. This awesome sports car will carry forward the name that made a huge impact many years ago.
2017 Kia Forte5 – This is really just a redesign, but it will make a difference to add a sleeker shape and different headlights along with a wider grill. This little car that is one of the most fun offerings from Kia will now look a little more grown up.
Audi h-tron Quattro Concept – Not only are car companies looking to have EV models, but also hydrogen powered versions of their lineup. The concept with this SUV is to be able to drive for nearly 400 miles before needing to refill the tanks of hydrogen.
2017 Ford Fusion – The Fusion is one of the most popular sedans on the market today and is a huge moneymaker for Ford that offers a facelift in the front and back to give it an upgraded look and feel. The new Sport package will offer a 325 horsepower EcoBoost V6 engine with AWD on a sport-tuned chassis to be a model we may all lust after.
