The Jeep Wrangler has been a steadfast design and build from Jeep that has yet to be duplicated by any other automaker. This vehicle gives us the best way to enjoy an off road experience that can be exciting and active with the Wrangler. The wheelbase, tall build and exceptional entry and exit angles are exactly what make the Wrangler one of the most adventurous and enticing vehicles ever found anywhere. With that in mind there have been some interesting variations that have shown up in a lot of different places to make us wonder what is going on with this vehicle that has only had a few changes since WWII just to keep up with technology.
As one of our favorite domestic models the Wrangler is one we don’t necessarily want to share it with the world. Jeep had different ideas and has created a variety of variations which have shown themselves at the auto shows around the world. The concepts include four variations that made their way to Beijing along with the diesel-powered Wrangler Stealth that was in Paris and even the Rocks Star that rumbled into Geneva. As a serious change from the norm there was even a Wrangler Nautic concept that was featured at the Paris boat show to give a very different look at this classic.
The most recent version of the Jeep Wrangler to show up at a show was the Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser concept that we saw just a few weeks ago at the Frankfurt auto show. This concept was donned in orange to certainly make the name a practical one along with a four-inch lift of the wheels to give the SUV a more rugged (as if that is needed) look. With a partnership with Mopar new bumpers are present on this SUV along with some front tow hooks and a skidplate that help protect the engine. There is even a set of half-doors, LED lights, spotlights, a rear light cluster and black leather upholstery with more orange trim features.
Overall this new concept looks like a Jeep Wrangler we could really love here in the states but it’s being featured overseas because it is powered by a specific power plant that has not been approved for the US as of yet. This Sunriser model uses the same 2.8-liter diesel engine that is present in the Stealth that was already mentioned. This gives plenty of power to all four wheels to make it easy to enjoy off roading in a world that uses diesel fuel much more than we do in the US.
Should we get a diesel-powered Wrangler in the US? Absolutely the drawback is the strict regulations that are in place for these vehicles in which they would need to be compliant with the guidelines in place here. This can be done but for now we get to admire the Sunriser from afar until FCA puts this vehicle into production and figures out how to give one to us for our own enjoyment.
