The Chevrolet Colorado is a tough and rugged truck offering both comfort and functionality to those who need it. Now, the fastest selling truck in the market is offering an available turbo-diesel engine. The 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Duramax diesel will offer mid-sized truck capability and efficiency to drivers. This will be the cleanest diesel truck engine that is offered and produced by General Motors.
Colorado will come with 369 lb ft torque in the all new 2.8 liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine for the 2016 model year. This will give Colorado a maximum trailering capacity of 7,700 pounds on the two wheel drive models and an estimated fuel economy that is projected to top the already segment leading efficiency of the gas model.
The 2016 Colorado Duramax diesel will go on sale in the fall of this year and will be available in the LT and Z71 Crew Cab models. It will also be available in either a two wheel drive or four wheel drive option and will be only $3,730 more than the 3.6 liter V6 model. A smart diesel exhaust brake system will enhance vehicle control and reduce brake wear on the new model.
Other exclusive features on the new Duramax include the standard Hydra-Matic 6L50 six speed automatic transmission, new integrated trailer brake controller, 3.42 axle ratio, and GVWR of 6,000 pounds for two wheel drive and 6,200 pounds for the four wheel drive version of Colorado. MyLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar 4G LTE with WiFi Hotspot, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Alert will also be available on Colorado.
Additional engine features that are exclusive to the all new Colorado Duramax diesel include B20 biodiesel capability, Iron cylinder block and aluminum DOHC cylinder head, balanced shaft, piston cooling oil jets, 16.5:1 compression ratio, common rail direct fuel injection, ceramic glow plugs, forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, and laminated steel oil pan.
